Q: When is the computer-based NET held?
The computer-based NET is held three times in an academic year. The dates to remember are:
- First Series (NET-1): 20 December, 2017 – January 2018
- Second Series (NET-2): March – April, 2018
- Third Series (NET-3): June – July, 2018
Q: When is the paper-based NET held?
The paper-based NET is held only one a year at the time of the NET-3 i.e. during June – July. The paper-based test is held only in Karachi and Quetta.
Q: What documents are required to be submitted while applying for admission?
While applying for admission, you’ll need your CNIC, Form ‘B’ or NICOP. Online registration system does not require attachment of documents / credentials. However, the same will be required for verification during selection and admission process for selected candidates.
Q: What is the processing fee for online registration for Admission?
Application processing fee will be charged according to the following structure:
- NUST Enrance Test (per exam) – 3,000/- or USD 35/-
- For SAT Candidate
* SAT National seat – Rs.3,500/- or USD 40/-
* SAT International seat – Rs.7,000/- or USD 80/-
The fee in Pakistani Rupees can be deposited in any Habib Bank Limited branch on the fee invoice to be printed after successful completion / submission of online application. Application processing fee is neither refundable nor transferable. It will remain valid only for the series for which it has been paid.
Q: My FSc. /A Levels final result will be announced in August or September 2016, Can I apply?
Yes, you can apply, as in such case you will be evaluated on the basis of ‘O’ Levels equivalence marks or your Matriculation and FSc. Part 1 marks. You have to provide equivalence certificate of ‘A’ levels within 15 days of announcement of result, as follows:
- For Medical and Applied Biosciences: For finalization of merit.
- For Other Disciplines: Before the commencement of academic classes.
Q: I am a foreigner and want to get admission at NUST?
If you fulfill the eligibility criteria, you can apply for admission on the basis of SAT International through your embassy. Separate admission form will be available on NUST website for applying on SAT basis.
Q: Is there any negative marking in the NUST Entry Test?
No, there is no negative marking.
Q: Is there any age limit for Undergraduate Admission?
No.
Q: What is the syllabus of NET and the format of questions?
NUST Entry Test is primarily based on FA / FSc level studies (Part-1 & Part-II) and questions are in the form of MCQs with four answer options each. The paper of English is on the pattern of SAT exam. The test also includes Intelligence part. A sample paper can be seen on NUST website.
Textbooks are consulted while developing the question bank. Grasping the concepts available in different textbooks will be beneficial.
For Architecture / Industrial Design program only, a Cognitive and Aptitude Test is conducted which is a subjective type test.
Q: What are the subjects for the NET’s of different courses?
NUST Entry Test is conducted in the following subjects for various categories:
- Engineering (FSc Pre-Engineering group): Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English & Intelligence
- Engineering / Computer Science: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry / Computer Science, English & Intelligence
- Medical / Applied Biosciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Intelligence
- Business Studies / Social Sciences: Verbal (English), General Mathematics & Intelligence
- BS Mathematics: Mathematics, English & Intelligence
- BS Physics: Physics, Mathematics, English & Intelligence
- Bachelor in Architecture / Bachelor in Industrial Design: Mathematics, Physics, English, Intelligence, Cognitive & Aptitude Test
Q: Can I apply for rechecking of Entry Test Result?
Re-checking of Entry Test papers may be requested within 10 days of the declaration of result, along with a fee of Rs 500/- in the form of a bank draft / pay order in favour of NUST. The original bank draft / pay order will be dispatched to Admissions Directorate NUST, Sector H-12, Islamabad, along with the written application for re-checking of papers. Re-checking involves the verification of paper for any unmarked answers and error-free totaling of marks.
